Lindsay began her training with a BASc in Nutrition and Food and Minor in Psychology. She continued her psychology studies while also working at the Toronto General Hospital in the Eating Disorders Day Program. During this time Lindsay was also mentored by a Neuropsychologist and assisted in administering standardized assessments involving clients with traumatic brain injuries. From there Lindsay went on to complete her Masters degree in Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto. During her Master’s degree she completed a 1 year practicum with the York Region Abuse Program (now Cedar Centre) in the child and family program. Lindsay provided counselling to children and families who had experienced childhood sexual abuse. This was a very rich learning experience that set her therapeutic foundation within a Trauma-informed and Anti-Oppressive framework. In her current practice she uses evidence based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy; Emotion Focused Therapy (which is rooted in Attachment Theory); Single Session Therapy; Solution Focused Therapy; and Mindfulness Therapy. For the past 8 years Lindsay has been a mental health therapist with the Canadian Mental Health Association of Simcoe County as a member of the addictions team and then the Family Health Team.
