Monica received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Universidad Del Valle (Cali, Colombia, SA 1993). Later, she received her master’s degree at Nova Southeastern University (Davie, Florida, USA 2011). She worked as a Licensed Mental Health Counsellor (LMHC) in Florida, USA for 13 years. She is now a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario, a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP). Although she is autonomously registered, she has chosen to her work under the supervision of psychologists.
During her lengthy and fulfilling career with 29 years experience living a healthy, disciplined lifestyle Monica has treated people with a variety of ailments, including: addictions, chronic mental illness, anxiety, depression, grief, and anger. She also specializes in conflict resolution due to family issues such as divorce, sexual identity, and yes – even working with teenagers. With the proper understanding, perspective alignment and coaching, her patients lead happier, healthier lives. Monica’s most recent position was with Citrus Health Network in Hialeah, Florida as a Clinical Supervisor performing Bio-Psychosocial evaluations, diagnosis, creation/review of treatment plans, supervising other therapists, and treating critical care patients. Monica believes there can be many factors and experiences that distract us from our intended path and lead us to feeling disconnected with ourselves and the world. Emotional pain, trauma, and suffering are symptoms of this disconnection. With her personal experience and professional knowledge, Monica has a track record of helping people pierce the illusion of unhappiness to find their true purposeful path. Monica leads by example. Accompanying all the training and experience in psychology, Monica has been a practitioner and teacher of yoga, meditation, and fitness for 35 years. Monica believes in the connection of body, mind and spirit and realizes if these internal relationships are honored, there is a fundamentally healthy individual that is dying to come out and play.
