Laura completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Tyndale University College and Seminary in Toronto. After job shadowing with a Psychological Associate at the York Region School Board Laura recognized her passion for helping individuals reach their full potential through psychological assessment and decided to pursue her Master’s degree at the University of Calgary in School and Applied Child Psychology. After graduating she began working at Alberta Health Services as a psychometrist as well as independently working as a behavioural aid and learning strategist. Desiring to return back to Ontario, she accepted a job with the York Region District School Board as a Psychoeducational Consultant which began in September of 2013. Laura has experience in providing comprehensive psychological assessments (academic, cognitive, neuropsychological, social-emotional/behavioural, etc.) and is passionate about working specifically with children and adolescents. Her desire to work with this population in particular began in high school were she volunteered with Jr. High students at a local church and continued in many volunteer and / or work situations (e.g., teaching High School Students English in Thailand, Working as Associate Faculty at a private elementary and high school in Newmarket, and working at a residential treatment program in Alberta). She believes that once we understand an individual’s strengths and weaknesses we can help them be successful wherever life takes them Laura has completed all registration requirements, and is now fully registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario as a Psychologist. Her registration process was somewhat prolonged by the birth of her two beautiful daughters (June 2015 and September 2017). In Laura’s spare time she enjoys a wide variety of DYI projects, snowboarding and being outdoors with family and friends. Please contact our office for an intake. |
